WIESBADEN, Germany – U.S. Signal Soldiers participated in a series of classes and presentations on advanced education opportunities, the promotion process and other workforce readiness issues during the Quarterly Soldier Development Program in January. 18, 2018 in Wiesbaden.

The classes were organized by the 102nd Tactical Battalion, 2nd Theater Battalion, and included participants from Baumholder, Grafenwoehr and Kaiserslautern, and within the US Network Enterprise Command TAC-Europe.

The Soldier Development Program provides Soldiers with information on a variety of personal and professional disciplines, including higher education, designed to nurture young Soldiers into future leaders.
"It's a unique program that not only emphasizes military things, but things that will help you in your military and civilian life," said Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony Davis, 102nd Tactical Bn. Senior enlisted leader.
Davis has been in it for 27 years, but says he would have benefited from having this information earlier to help his career and better prepare him for the transition to life after the military.
Chris Weisbecker, Wiesbaden Education Center's academic services officer, emphasized the importance of Soldiers finding programs and colleges that are right for them, as well as planning to pay tuition, books and fees.

"You want to have a plan ahead of time when you're ready to take classes," Weisbecker said. "Come in and talk to us if you're not sure."
He discussed the many different options available to soldiers and family members to help pay for classes, including tuition assistance, federal grants and local scholarships. Weisbecker also talked about how to navigate the GoEd website, and how to get credit for college credit or check out courses in their entirety.
In addition, there were presentations about classes and programs available at Wiesbaden's four higher education institutions – Central Texas College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Oklahoma, and University College of Maryland.
